Oktoberfest 2023

Wow, what a fantastic day we had yesterday at our Oktoberfest & Fun Fly! The weather was beautiful and we had over 40 members & guests attend. As always, the food was great, and a big thank you to Bob Blonski & Jay Weiner for doing most of the set up and all the cooking, Lori & Dawn for the delicious salads, Bob Deming for the great stew and all who brought coffee and the desserts including the sugar wafer mini-planes. Thanks to all that helped making the field look tip-top, Noel for fixing the solar charging station and also helping setting up. Our safety officer, Rich Margules, maintained tight control of the enthusiastic crowd.

Our AMA District 1 VP Andy Argenio joined in and had a great time. He presented us with our 2023 AMA Gold Leader Club plague and an AMA Education award to Ron Faanes for leading the Principal of Flight program. We also recognized many members for their contributions during the last year, particularly our Carpentry & Lumberjack Crews and Ken Blau’s victory with the IRS. We also presented Natalia a framed certificate for passing her solo flight test and your parents gave her a new E flite Valiant.

The highlight of the day was Will’s B29. In addition to numerous photo ops, Will did several trial taxi runs to woo the crowd. Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped make the day so successful.
