FlyRC Admitted to the AMA Leader Club at the Gold Level

AMA Leader Club

The AMA has a program to recognize clubs that promote the hobby, practice flying good practices/safety and are an overall good citizen with community outreach. We recently submitted our application to be recognized as an AMA Leader Club. The great news is, we were approved at the Gold Level, the highest achievable. Less than 7% of the New England clubs achieve this level. It’s a great accomplishment in which we all should be proud. It is the result of solid field flying practices and our active modeling outreach program to local schools and other organizations, where we have been participating for many years. Following is an excerpt from our AMA District 1 VP’s (Andy Argenio) email:

Congratulations on FLYRC AMA Club #803 on completing all the requirements for AMA Gold Leader Club Status.  Your club now increases the District 1 Gold Leader Clubs from 6 to 7 of the 105 clubs in New England. Excellent accomplishment!

2022 Spring Field Day

Our April 23, 2022 spring field day  was a huge success thanks to the 10 members that came out Friday and another 26 on Saturday. Several folks came out both days. New members Ryan Bigham, Gabe Bitencourt, Will Tomanio, and John Hromoho jumped in and Eddie DeSilva returned in full swing.  Our good friend, Mike Herrick stopped by to catch up and it was great to see Paul Ivey enjoying the day at the field with friends. We accomplished all the planned work, had plenty of time to fly and enjoyed a nice BBQ provided by Bob Motta and prepared by Bob Blonski. We even had a special treat of “Mrs. Blonski’s famous coffee cake”. Special thanks to Cliff and Bob Milanese for both bringing up their tractors to expedite the work and Mike Samsen for making this year’s membership cards.

Overall, we had a great time and the field looks great, ready for an active flying season

Thanks for everyone’s support, Bill J.

New Year's Day Fly-in/Picnic 2022

A Great time was had by all who attended our New Year’s Day Fly-in. The weather was unusually warm and overcast, but most importantly, no rain. We had 24+ members plus 5 guests, including 3 youngsters, and 3 visitors who stopped by to see the planes. The parking lot was full and several members needed to park on the access road (what a problem to have). As always, the food was great with Bob Deming’s home make beef stew being the hit of the day. A Big Thank You to all who brought goodies, Ron for arranging the sandwiches, Russ for picking them up, Bob Blonski for setting up, Noel for rolling the field, and Joe G for his landing demonstrations entertainment, Mike as our new Club photographer, Bob Milanese for his new wall art, Rich for keeping us safe, and all who pitched in to help and cleanup. We definitely set the tone for the coming year and 2022 Club events.

Have a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year and look forward to seeing you at the field in 2022.
