General Business:

CALL TO ORDER: 7:33PM

MEMBERSHIP PRESENT: 23  

Treasurer Report:

All Bill’s paid Treasure’s report accepted. 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: d.  

  Minutes of March 1, 2017 meeting approved Joe Giacone motioned to accept and Chris Vargas Seconded.  

Membership:

  • 68 members paid to date

  • Bob Motta will e-mail Fly RC membership list which will not include phone numbers. 

Field Review:

  • Field in good shape for this time of year

  • Field Day 1st weekend in April or the weekend after Easter

  • Mole problem diminished still an issue

  • Field day will concentrate on far side of field

Rules and Bi-Laws:

Nothing to Report

Sound & Safety:

Discus sion lead by Bill Josiger field safety officer.

  • So Who Owes Safety????

  1. You are responsible to know and follow the rules

  2. To protect yourself and fellow fliers

  3. What do you do if you are at the field and see me flying to close to the flight line????

  4. Remember that we are all humans and make mistakes

  • So why do we have Safety & Field rules?????

  1. To protect ourselves and fellow fliers

  2. We are a Chartered AMA member and as such are required to meet certain requirements, including Safety and Field Rules

  3. AMA provides Club General Liability Insurance.

  4. Without Insurance there is no flying field.

  5. Without the field there is no Flying.

  • What are the other threats to our field?????  What are the two major reasons other clubs have lost their flying fields?
  1. Noise……we have sound rules, let’s follow them

  2. Flying Outside the Boundary

  • What are our Flying Boundaries??????
  1. Fence line left & right

  2. Gravel pit on the right

DO NOT FLY BEYOND THE GRAVEL PIT, OVER THE ROAD OR ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE FLIGHT LINE

IF WE HIT A HOUSE, BARN OR ROAD WE MOST LIKELY WILL LOOSE THE FIELD.

  • Buddy System Second set of eyes discussed when more than one plane in the air

Communications:

  • Ellington SWAP Meet May 20.

  • CMAC Float meet May 20.

  • CAP Invitation June 3 rain date June 10.

  • ALL ELECTRIC FUN FLY & SWAP MEET July 9th Salem ,CT.

  • Heights Aeros’ Festival of Giants. It is being held on August 10th thru 13th. 

Old Business:

  • Ken Blau’s Bus great success with many thanks he raised $425 for the club in the effort.

  • "How To” listed on a pull down menu on the web site. Members have been asked to participate.

  • Update of Charter Cliff and Paul.

  • Solar charging station update we don’t have controller.

  • CAP invitation and Fly In will be June 3rd with a RD of June 10.

  • Summer meetings were discussed and tabled to next meeting.

New Business:

  • Russ Pribanic will host New Year’s Day Brunch in Ron Faanes absence.

  • Cliff Becker has contacted his church off Exit 18.  It was suggested to open the Swap Meet to a fund raising activity. Discussion tabled to next meeting.

  • An interim election was held electing Bill Josiger to Vice President replacing Gino Antonni the vote was unanimous in favor of Bill.

Club Web Site:

Nothing to report

Show and Tell:

  • Bob Motta brought in a Hobby King Jet which he discussed battery hook up and potential weight issue.

  • 50/50 won b y Merrill Morsey who gave the winnings to the club
