Members of the Fly RC model airplane club of Southbury CT returned for a second year for an indoor flying demonstration to promote RC Flying, with an indoor flying demonstration at the St. John the Evangelist School in Watertown, CT.
St John is a private school Pre- K-K8 with 180 students. Themes for the day: "dress as a twin" and "science education". Fly RC Members doing the flying were Ron Faanes, Ph.D Secretary of Fly RC, Bob Milanese, and Jay Weiner.
As expected many of the students received drones for Christmas and had lots of questions.
A short introduction of the Fly RC Club was given and information on where the Fly RC Club field is located. That discussion was followed by a brief talk on the
Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and
a little about the importance of safety. The Fly RC Team also expressed the need for young people to get involved with model flying to keep the hobby active.
There was close to an hour flying session which demonstrated Vapors and several varieties of Quads. Video features were utilized and transmitted to a large TV Monitor so
the students could see themselves on the big screen. This was a real hit with the audience.
The session was ended with a QA around a small static display.
